It was a calm and balmy day and I was lazily pushing my toes through the warm sand on the beach. I remember sitting there and posing a few serious questions to God. It went something like this:
God, who am I going to marry when I am older? What is my life’s purpose? What would you have me do for you while I am here on earth? What teenager doesn’t think about who she is going to marry one day? I mean, I had a crush on Dirk Benedict for goodness sake! Remember him? If not, go check him out on Google – it might take a while to find him – this does go back way back when.
As I sat there on the beach, taking in the sights and sounds of people playing in the waves, seagulls flying overhead and the humdrum of the traffic in the distance, a still small voice inside of me said that I should look at the mountain and say what I saw. My answer was simple. ‘I see Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles’.
That’s right, said the voice. What I want you to do is to go and tell the world about my Love and Truth in 12 easy steps. Sure, I replied. I can do that. That was over 30 years ago and now I am doing just that.
Life is one helluva rollercoaster ride – thanks Ronan Keating! Got your message loud and clear. The greatest adventure that you can undertake in this lifetime is the journey within. And what you will find will amaze you. The sheer brilliance of who you are is beyond your comprehension.
Step by step you will go deeper and deeper until you reach the very core of you. No matter what you have been through in this life, you are more than capable of overcoming the difficulties, the wrongful beliefs, the fears and the past grievances. All it takes is a willingness to show up each day, no matter how you feel.
This is your time for you to reconcile with yourself; a time to forgive yourself for whatever it is you have done that has made you feel unworthy of all the good that this life has to offer. You are here to experience love, joy, happiness, peace, abundance, wealth, health, success and all the greatness that this life has to offer. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step – Lao Tzu.
All you have to do is begin, one step at a time. The blossom will open and bloom all in perfect timing. You just need to show up and do the work. Life is not about struggling and sadness. It is not about the next acquisition or accomplishment.
Life is about having fun and experiencing your wholeness. You get to choose how you approach this. You can either feel sorry for yourself and look for sympathy, or you can open your heart and realise that you are 100% accountable for where you are at in your life in this very moment. When you take accountability for where you are at, you give yourself the power to make the necessary changes to change your current circumstances. Don’t berate yourself for where you are at – you did the best you could with the resources you had. Go easy on yourself; let’s go on this journey together.
